Chris Helder to Reveal ‘The Power of Influence’ During 2017
RV Dealers International Convention/Expo Keynote Presentation

(Fairfax, VA)   Noted author and speaker, Chris Helder, will present “The Power of Influence . . .  Mastering the Customer Experience,” during the opening general session of the RV Dealers International Convention/Expo on Tuesday, Nov. 7.   The convention is sponsored by RVDA – The National RV Dealers Association, RVDA of Canada, and the Mike Molino RV Learning Center.

This powerful keynote address, made possible by convention Platinum Partner Wells Fargo CDF, will focus on communication techniques that can make an immediate impact and maximize the customer experience. Chris has a fresh approach that concentrates on creating a strong connection with customers that can lead to better performance in all areas of the dealership.

The presentation will help dealers explore:

  • The greatest communication, persuasion, and influencing tools that are practical and can be implemented immediately
  • A list of "1%" behaviors that significantly improve your results
  • Persuasion skills, that you can increase, to get customers to take action
  • Building relationships that matter in business
  • Understanding the power of coding success and replicating winning behavior

As the author of two best-selling books on the power of genuine communication, Chris has addressed more than 2,000 audiences throughout the USA, Asia, Australia, and Europe. His global client list includes: Citibank, Merrill Lynch, Glaxo Smith Kline, Toyota, Fuji Xerox, Levi’s and IBM.

The convention theme is Gear Up for Success, and dealers are encouraged to bring their top performers for a week of fixed-operations training and education, leadership development, networking, and motivation that will take their performance to new heights.

Registration is now open and early bird rates apply through June 30, 2017. Dealers who register at least one person from their dealership by June 30 at the early bird rate of $609 lock in a rate of $589 for the rest of their company’s registrants—no matter when they sign up. That represents a 40 percent savings off the full convention rate for the first registrant alone.
Online registration is available at www.rvda.org.

Convention/Expo week starts with Vendor Training +Plus on Monday and Tuesday and includes a general session, educational and networking programs for young executives, Partners in Progress meetings, and track workshops designed to address the leading issues that drive every department in the dealership. In addition, the Society of Certified RV Professionals will head into its third year with another special event featuring recognitions, a guest speaker, and networking opportunities. Registrants can also attend a mini-rental school at no extra charge.

Relevant education tracks that address dealerships’ key areas offer a curriculum designed specifically for RV dealership employees. Education tracks for dealer/GMs, sales, service, parts, F&I, rental, and social media/eMarketing offer something to meet the professional development needs of most fixed-ops professionals.

There will also be an expo with more than 100 exhibitors that serve RV dealers by providing insurance products, finance tools, and training expertise, as well as the leading suppliers and manufacturers. These exhibitors can offer the dealer new ways to improve sales, management, customer service, and employee performance.

The convention venue is Bally’s, so the majority of events will take place in one area, increasing your chances of connecting with colleagues and staying on schedule. The centrally located dealer lounge, equipped with Wi-Fi and comfortable seating, is back this year. In addition, the RVDA block of hotel rooms at Bally’s and Paris offers convenient lodging and easy access to the nightlife along the Vegas Strip.

Companies interested in partnership and sponsorship opportunities and exhibitor information can contact Julie Newhouse at (703) 364-5518 or send an email to

Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable Hold Capitol Hill Briefings on Economic Impact (3/9/2017)

ORIR Holds Capitol Hill Briefings on Outdoor Recreation Economy

Washington, D.C. (March 7, 2017) – Outdoor recreation took center stage on Capitol Hill March 7.  The Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable (ORIR) held briefings for staffers from both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate, introducing the newly formed organization itself and detailing the tremendous economic impact of outdoor recreation within the United States.

(Below:  RVDA's Phil Ingrassia, RVIA's Frank Hugelmeyer, International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association's Ed Klim, and National Marine Manufacturers's Thom Dammrich on Capitol Hill.)

  1.  fast tracking the implementation of the recently enacted Outdoor Recreation Jobs and Economic Impact (REC) Act
  2.  prioritizing recreation-related infrastructure improvements in federal agency budgets;
  3. establishing more public-private partnerships to address maintenance backlogs on public lands;
  4.  achieving better balance between recreation and conservation in federal agency decisions; and
  5. developing and deploying a digital information strategy for outdoor recreation on federal lands.

“As an outcome of cuts in Federal spending, many Federal agencies are reducing or eliminating recreational opportunities,” said Archery Trade Association President Jay McAninch.  “The ORIR member industries believe this is tragic, and are offering private investments on public lands as a way to provide all Americans with the chance to recreate outdoors – an American birthright. Our industry’s view is this a much-needed stimulus for the Federal lands which are solely lacking in welcoming our citizens outdoors.”

“An Eisenhower era infrastructure and public lands management approach will not meet the needs of a 21st century consumer,” said Frank Hugelmeyer, president of the RV Industry Association. “That is why we were on Capitol Hill, introducing the Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable to the Senate and House of Representative and sharing our ideas about policy and regulatory reforms necessary to grow the outdoor recreation economy.”

The ORIR also delivered another key message:  tight federal budgets should not be allowed to reduce access to public lands and waters or diminish the quality of outdoor recreation experiences.  Solutions to budget-related challenges involving partnerships and private investment have long been a tradition on the nation’s public lands and need to be embraced.

The well-attended briefings opened doors to improved communication and partnerships between ORIR and Congressional offices that will continue to raise Congressional awareness of the importance of outdoor recreation and encourage actions to improve recreational opportunities on America’s public lands and waters.

About the Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable:

OUTDOOR RECREATION INDUSTRY ROUNDTABLE is a coalition of America’s leading outdoor recreation trade associations working to promote the policy and legislative reforms needed to grow the outdoor recreation economy. Roundtable members represent the thousands of U.S. businesses that produce vehicles, equipment, gear, apparel and services for the millions of Americans who enjoy our nation’s parks, waterways, byways, trails and outdoor spaces.  Combined, the various business sectors within the outdoor recreation industry generate $646 billion-per-year in economic activity and provide an estimated 6.1 million direct jobs. Coalition members produce the eight largest recreation tradeshows in the U.S. and their members annually contribute $40 billion in federal excise tax, sales tax and duties.

RVDA Endorses Health Care Purchasing Arrangement (2/1/2017)

through Brown & Brown Insurance

For more information and to apply click here.

(Fairfax, VA) RVDA – The National RV Dealers Association – has endorsed the RV Dealers Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement – available through Brown & Brown Insurance.

The RV Dealers Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement offers members a new way to provide employee health benefits, while saving money.  Through a combination of leveraged buying power and program metrics that carve-out excess costs, RVDA members have an opportunity to lower health care premiums.

Dealers have the option of maintaining their current health benefits or they can further customize their offering to employees.  The program includes a dedicated Brown & Brown service representative, turn-key compliance solutions, and administrative support.

In certain instances, dealers will be eligible for immediate savings upon entering the program, with additional savings possible at the end of the plan year based on the dealer group’s actual claims. Dealers participating in the program can maintain their own renewal date and contract.

“Many dealers and their employees have experienced escalating health plan costs in recent years,” said RV Assistance Corp. (RVAC) Chairman Jeff Hirsch of Campers Inn.  “This program can help dealers provide quality coverage while providing employees access to resources that can help them stay healthy.”  RVAC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of RVDA that develops member benefits for association members.

“The Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement is a long term solution to controlling health costs, therefore dealers should approach their decision making process surrounding the program with this in mind,” said Angie Weilage of Brown & Brown Insurance. “If the RV Dealers Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement is shared with an alternative broker that, in the end, matches the rates, keep in mind this may be a ‘band aid’ solution that does not address fundamental issues impacting rates.”

To get more information, visit www.rvda.org, contact Angie Weilage at aweilage@bblouisville.com or fill out an online form for more information at: http://www.bbinsservices.com/index.php/form/
