The week of March 12–18 has been designated RV Professional Certification Week by the Society of Certified RV Professionals and the Mike Molino RV Learning Center.

RV Professional Certification Week is March 12-18
Recognizes Certified Employees and Promotes Continuing Education

(Fairfax, VA) The week of March 12–18 has been designated RV Professional Certification Week by the Society of Certified RV Professionals and the Mike Molino RV Learning Center.

“This week is about recognizing your certified professionals by celebrating their achievements and encouraging others to begin the process of certification through the RVDA-RVIA Tech Certification Program or the RV Learning Center’s parts and service management certification programs,” said RVDA President Phil Ingrassia.

RV Learning Center service management certifications are available for service managers, service writers/advisors, and warranty administrators.  There are also certifications for parts managers and parts specialists.  Dealers can learn more about professional certification and training opportunities available for fixed operations staff on the RV Learning Center website at www.rvlearningcenter.com.

The RVDA-RVIA RV Service Technician Certification Program identifies service professionals who have demonstrated the knowledge and ability to satisfy established standards in RV diagnostic and repair procedures. Technicians begin with the Registered Technician test and, if successful, can move up to take the Certified Technician exam. Technician certification and training information is available online at www.rvtechnician.com.

Established in 1993, the RV service technician certification program is administered by the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) and Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) under the auspices of the RV Service Technician Certification Governing Board.

The Mike Molino RV Learning Center is supported by dealers, manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and other RV industry members who are committed to dealership education and the high level of customer service that is provided by educated employees.  It supports both the Society of Certified RV Professionals and the Young RV Executives program.

RVDA Endorses Health Care Purchasing Arrangement (2/1/2017)
The RV Dealers Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement offers members a new way to provide employee health benefits, while saving money.

RVDA Endorses RV Dealers Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement
through Brown & Brown Insurance

For more information and to apply click here.

(Fairfax, VA) RVDA – The National RV Dealers Association – has endorsed the RV Dealers Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement – available through Brown & Brown Insurance.

The RV Dealers Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement offers members a new way to provide employee health benefits, while saving money.  Through a combination of leveraged buying power and program metrics that carve-out excess costs, RVDA members have an opportunity to lower health care premiums.

Dealers have the option of maintaining their current health benefits or they can further customize their offering to employees.  The program includes a dedicated Brown & Brown service representative, turn-key compliance solutions, and administrative support.

In certain instances, dealers will be eligible for immediate savings upon entering the program, with additional savings possible at the end of the plan year based on the dealer group’s actual claims. Dealers participating in the program can maintain their own renewal date and contract.

“Many dealers and their employees have experienced escalating health plan costs in recent years,” said RV Assistance Corp. (RVAC) Chairman Jeff Hirsch of Campers Inn.  “This program can help dealers provide quality coverage while providing employees access to resources that can help them stay healthy.”  RVAC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of RVDA that develops member benefits for association members.

“The Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement is a long term solution to controlling health costs, therefore dealers should approach their decision making process surrounding the program with this in mind,” said Angie Weilage of Brown & Brown Insurance. “If the RV Dealers Health Collective Purchasing Arrangement is shared with an alternative broker that, in the end, matches the rates, keep in mind this may be a ‘band aid’ solution that does not address fundamental issues impacting rates.”

Fairfax, VA – Campers Inn has contributed an additional $5,000 to the Mike Molino RV Learning Center, bringing the dealership’s total giving to $81,000 toward the company’s $100,000 pledge.

Florida-based Campers Inn’s most recent contribution was part a fundraising challenge made during the 2016 RV Dealers International Convention/Expo.  Campers Inn President and owner Jeff Hirsch matched contributions from RV Learning Center supporters up to $5,000.  The total raised from the challenge was $11,500, including the Campers Inn $5,000 contribution.

“We are committed to being a catalyst for increasing support for continuing education in the RV industry,” Hirsch said.  “The RV Learning Center is a source for professional development opportunities for dealership employees in all departments throughout the year.”

“As the RV Learning Center moves forward with updating its fixed operations curriculum in 2017 through its partnership with The Ohio State University, these contributions come at a particularly critical time,” said RV Learning Center Chairman Jeff Pastore of Hartville RV Center.  “Thanks to Campers Inn and all those who made new contributions to the Learning Center.”

Legislation Benefiting Outdoor Recreation Approved In Waning Days of 2016 (12/20/2016)
Rec Act and National Park Service Centennial Act Signed into Law

Legislation Benefiting Outdoor Recreation Approved in Waning Days of 2016
Rec Act and National Park Service Centennial Act Signed into Law

President Obama signed the Outdoor Recreation Jobs and Economic Impact Act of 2016 into law this month.

Better known as the REC Act, it directs the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis to assess and analyze the U.S. outdoor recreation economy and its impact on the economy.

RVDA is one of a number of outdoor recreation industry associations to support the bill.

In April of 2016, the Secretary of the Interior enacted a temporary pilot program.  The REC Act will make sure the outdoor economy receives official government recognition for years to come.

In other news out of Washington, the president also signed the National Park Service Centennial Act, to help maintain the National Park System this month.

This act provides the Park Service with new tools and authorities it can use to maintain and improve the system.

The law will help reduce park service's deferred maintenance backlog by generating new revenue to fund needed capital improvements. Other provisions will help leverage private philanthropic donations, offer enhanced visitor services, and expand the Volunteers in Parks program.

The act is the byproduct of bipartisan efforts and diverse stakeholder input, including the American Recreation Coalition.
