RVIA Raises Seal Costs for Manufacturer Members; No
Changes to Go RVing Assessment

RVIA’s Board of Directors approved an increase in the cost
manufacturers pay for association seals to address the growing pressure
on its budget caused by a reduction in show space and dues income due to
the downturn in the RV market. The increase does not impact the Go RVing
seal assessment, which is governed by RVIA and RVDA.
“As business continues to improve every day, we hope that we
can once again return to traditional revenue sources that have served
our organization so well in the past,” said RVIA President Richard
Coon. “Until then, the seal assessment will increase from the
current level of $4.05 to $35, effective July 1, 2009.”
Demand for space at RVIA’s National RV Trade Show in Louisville
is down nearly 35 percent and down nearly 70 percent for the
association’s California RV Show in Pomona.
The per unit assessment for Go RVing remains in place at the current
levels of $46 for folding camping trailers and truck campers; $61 for
travel trailers and 5th wheel travel trailers; and $74 for
motorhomes.
Manufacturers displaying the RVIA seal must self-certify compliance
with more than 500 safety specifications for electrical, plumbing,
heating and fire and life safety established under the American National
Standards Institute (ANSI) A119.2 RV Standard.
