Certification is a significant achievement for the dealership parts
person. It demonstrates that the parts specialist and/or parts
manager has the additional knowledge, ability, and skills needed to
improve customer satisfaction. Certification can lead to a higher level
of professionalism, increased employee retention, and greater dealership
profitability. Certification can also lead to improved customer
satisfaction. The modern RV customer demands professionalism in all
aspects of the dealership experience and recognizes certification
programs as an indication of professionalism.

Who is Eligible:
Parts Manager: All currently employed RV Parts
Managers, persons working in management and administration, and persons
currently working in the RV Industry/Dealership that have a minimum of
24 months work experience in retail RV parts or parts related industry
experience.
Parts Specialist: All currently employed RV Parts
Specialists, persons working in management and administration, and
persons currently working in the RV Industry/Dealership that have a
minimum of 12 months work experience in retail RV parts or parts related
industry experience.
Test Information:

Test candidates must, as part of the application process, have
their immediate supervisor or dealer/owner provide an
“endorsement” in the form of his or her signature on the
test registration form. This signature asserts that the candidate
is prepared for the test and meets the eligibility criteria. Test
candidates have 30 days from the date of registration to complete the

Parts Specialist: a score of 73% and above is
considered passing. There are a total of 92 questions on the
exam.
Parts Manager: a score of 82% and above is considered
passing. There are a total of 131 questions on the exam.

Individuals who do not achieve a passing score after the first
attempt may re-take the exam up to two additional times within a six
month period. Individuals must wait 30 days before re-testing each
time he or she fails to achieve a passing score. There is no fee
to retake the test during this period.

Individuals who have re-tested for a total of three times and not
qualified for certification, must wait six months, re-register, and pay
the full fee to begin the new round of testing.

All certified parts personnel, upon notification of passing exam
scores, will receive a plaque with a certificate and a patch
acknowledging their status as Certified RV Parts Specialist or Certified
RV Parts Manager.

Certification credentials are valid for five years.

Recertification Information:
Certification is valid for five years. In order to
re-certify, the person applying must show that he/she has five
days (40 hours) of training related to his/her position over the five
years of the certification period. Fifty percent of the training must
occur during the third, fourth, or fifth year after the last
certification or re-certification. The recertification fee must
accompany the application.

- RVLC training workshops
- RV Dealers International Convention/Expo educational tracks
- Supplier/distributor schools and/or correspondence courses
- Manufacturer training
- State association training
- Training offered by RV business consultants
